Growing up in the Caribbean was WONDERFUL (at least at the point in time i grew up). I prayed and prayed and prayed for weekends and holidays to come quickly so that i could soak in nature with my cousins...From sun up to sun down..Cricket in the road (a bucket was usually the wicket), to marbles, hopscotch, "chinee skip", rounders, moral, scorn, swing and the list goes on and on! Those were the days..those were fun...doh talk for the river...fishing for cray fish or just taking a good old dive in a river basin..
Today everything that makes being a child fun has been eradicated, eroded or just plain out replaced by something that requires batteries or electricity! Facebook, Blackberry, Myspace, Hi5 (now obsolete because of fb), Nintendo WII and all dis kinda madness! Children dont even talk to their parents anymore ..an email or IM suffices..Grounding or punishment is now taking away gadgets while back in my day it was saying that you couldnt go play with friends or attend some function. Children have become so one-sided in their development that they don't even know what Super Mario Bros is...For all they know it could be a pizza franchise in Trinidad. (lol).
